To avoid burnout, rotating teams host each retreat. These folks are part of the team or have been in the past!
A lot of work and time goes into making retreat happen, and it isn't often seen. Typically we have 5 organizers host each retreat. Organization starts roughly 4 months before the event, is most visible during the event, and then continues post-event. The organizers are offered a complimentary ticket and $300 each, although many of us donate those funds back to the event. This compensation is intended to help make organizer roles for this event more sustainable and accessible by providing a small amount of money to organizers who may miss out on income in the course of doing the work required for the event.
